The Journalists Association “Novomedia” 

"The transformation of media returns the transformation of nation"

 

The Novomedia Association is the all-Ukrainian non-governmental journalistic organization. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The Association unites Christian journalists and other creative stuff of different media in two common ways: spiritual unity and professional interests.

For today, Novomedia  Association  includes about 200 members from secular and Christian media and has representatives in the majority of regions of Ukraine. There are also members of the community in Russian Federation, USA and Canada.

Overview of Novomedia Association Activities in 2014

Novomedia spent the whole year 2014 under the sign of its 10th Anniversary. Even the logo of the Association featured the ten. All the events, meetings, conferences and the university media tour were dedicated to this anniversary.

On January 13th the first meeting of the team Novomedia on which organizational and financial report was presented on the activities of the organization for the previous year.

The participants of the special press-tour of Novomedia Association visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, in Jerusalem. During the visit, they had a chance to communicate with Mr. Zvi Rav-Ner, who is the Deputy Director of Department of Eurasia.

Over the two past centuries, mass media has been a full-fledged subject of military conflicts across the world. Initially represented by newspapers, mass media gradually expanded its platform to the radio, television and at the end of the 20thcentury – Internet. Not only all of them – editorial offices, journalists, editors and media owners – cover negotiations and battles but also participate in them head-to-head.

International Novomedia Forum 2014: Journalism in the Wartime

On November 7-9, 2014 International Novomedia Forum took place in Kyiv. The event brought together the best speakers – primarily journalists and bloggers – from across Ukraine. Among the participants were also representatives of two Russian editorial offices. They took an active part in discussion sessions focused on the information war issues.

On Sunday, in the framework of Novomedia Awards ceremony, distinguished media professionals received awards for covering Christian values in their materials. This year, 7 editorial offices and journalists were awarded, including Yedinstvennaya and Focus magazines, online public television channel Hromadske TV, as well as Novyi Kanal and STB national TV channels.

Ukrainian tribute to our friend Arne Fjeldstad

In early 2008 he wrote his first letter to me — an invitation to a Journalism Conference in the Czech Republic. A few months later in May Arne Fjeldstad and I met in person for the first time.  Three delegates from Ukraine and a few dozen from all over Europe gathered together in Prague at his invitation. 

Today Novomedia turns 10

October 8, 2004 was a date when all-Ukrainian Non-Government JournalistsAssociationNovomedia was officially founded. That day, the founder of the organization RuslanKukharchuk and a Board Member Andrey Makarenkoreceived the certificate ofNovomedia registration in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. It was an exciting moment, since a big dream was becoming reality through the first small practical achievements.

Dear Members of the Novomedia Association!

Ten years ago, on October 8,2004, weobtained the certificate of state registration of Novomedia Association as an all-Ukrainian journalists’ NGO. It was an exciting moment when the big vision started to materialize in our small but persistent practical steps.

Since then, we have been working together in mass media for a decade. Our motto remains unchanged: “Transformation of the society through the transformation of mass media”. Our mission is constant and it is to support journalists and to assist the church.
